FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
FULL FIGHT CARD, TWO TITLE MATCHES SET
FOR FIGHT NIGHT 12
AT CLUB NOKIA AT L.A. LIVE, MAY 31
Los Angeles, CA – University of MMA: Fight Night 12, scheduled for Sunday, November 22 at Club Nokia at L.A. LIVE (aka “the U of MMA campus”), rounds out the year with the promotion’s last event of the year. The U is scheduled to host a full 15-match card, making 2015 the largest schedule of matches in U of MMA history. Tickets are now on sale at www.UofMMA.com and www.axs.com.
A new University of MMA’s light heavyweight champion will be decided between Travis Williams (Elite Training Center) and Julian Capocetti (MMAFC). The title has been vacant since former champion Dominick ‘The Devastator’ Reyes defended his title and turned pro late last year.
Two major fan favorites will vie for the University of MMA featherweight championship as Sergio ‘Surge the Kid’ Perez (Hayastan MMA) and Michael ‘Blackjack’ Jackson (Systems Training Center) square off. This will be Perez’s second shot at the University of MMA featherweight title, while Jackson, who rolls in with a two-fight win streak since returning to the U of MMA earlier this year, vies to become the 145 lb. king for the first time in his career.
“Travis and Julian both come from great gyms, and it’s a tough fight to call, but we are expecting an outstanding battle,” commented U of MMA founder Turi Altavilla. “Sergio and Michael are both ferocious fighters, and both have championship hearts. But only one will leave with the belt.”
In several ways, Fight Night 12 marks a pivotal point in the promotion’s history. A lengthy mix of established U of MMA veterans, like Perez, AJ Lavarias (Systems Training Center), Hugo Aranda and Antonio Lopez (both Saekson’s Muay Thai), Jonathan Quiroz (California MMA), and Ronald Minera (Superb Boxing) make their return on this show, with pro debuts probably not far off in their horizons.
Conversely, a batch of younger talent who’ve only recently made their mark at the U, such as Damon Jacobs, David Boyko, Zachary Kraschinsky (all of Bas Rutten’s Elite MMA Gym), Kyler Scott (Team Quest), Lance Bush (Team Lagarto/10th Planet Van Nuys), and Andrii Vasylenko (Hayastan MMA), step into the spotlight again to display their talents for U of MMA fans.
“In terms of quantity and quality, this has been a big year for the U of MMA and the fighters who’ve competed here. We’ve had some incredibly memorable matches and saw some potential stars break out and prepare for launch into the pro ranks. We’re really ending the year on a strong note,” said U of MMA matchmaker Jay Tan.
